Seahorses…

Hello 3 Seahorses!

Seahorses are amazing little creatures.  What do you know about seahorses? Why don’t you practise some of the research skills you have been learning in your libray time.  When you have something interesting to share just add it as a comment to this post.  Can’t wait to see what you find out!

Mrs Spencer

Just a reminder…

I need to make you all aware that that our school has set some new guidelines regarding the use of our class blogs.

Students do NOT have permission to write their own posts (for example the wonderful seahorse information you have been researching).

The way to share this type of information is to respond to a post. The class teacher is the only person with permission to add new posts. Students are only allowed to respond to the post. Remember no commenting on other students’ comments.

So look out for the post that asks you to research interesting facts about seahorses.

If you have any further questions please come and see me.

Thanks

Mrs Spencer

Materials that change…

Over the past 2 weeks we have conducted a number of experiments investigating how materials change states (from solid to liquid for example). Remember this one?

Can you think of any other examples where a material’s state of matter changes?

Can you explain what is happening in that change process? (What is happening to the matter particles?)

Then this week we had a look at what can happen when you start to mix materials…

Can you think of another example of how materials change when you mix them together?

Can you now describe their new properties?

How seahorses eat

Hi 3 seahorses! I am going to tell you how seahorses eat.

Seahores are slow so they cling on to the coral and wait for their food to come. When their food comes they use they use their long snouts and eat their prey whole.

Thanks you for reading!

Materials and properties…in your bedroom.

Think about all the things that are in your bedroom (eg bed, drawers), think about the materials that these things are made of.  Now think about the properties of these things.  Why do you think somebody decided to make them that way.

Share with us one example from your thinking.  Tell us what the item is, what materials were used to make it. Then tell us why you think the manufactures (the people who made it) chose those materials.

Can’t wait to find out what you think!
